Jeep Wrangler Roof Rack & Cargo FAQ
Will Maiker roof racks work with both hardtops and soft tops?
We offer specialized designs for both configurations. Most of our hardtop-mounted racks utilize the factory rain gutters or hinge points for a secure fit. For soft-top users, we provide "exo-skeleton" style cages that mount to the vehicle's body or frame, allowing you to lower the top without removing the rack. Please check the specific fitment notes on the product page for your Jeep generation (JK or JL).
What is the difference between static and dynamic load capacity?
"Dynamic Load" refers to the weight the rack can safely carry while the vehicle is in motion (typically 150-300 lbs depending on the model), accounting for G-forces and vibrations. "Static Load" refers to the capacity when the vehicle is parked (often up to 600-800 lbs), which is the critical rating for supporting rooftop tents with multiple occupants.
Do Maiker roof racks require drilling into the Jeep's body or hardtop?
Most of our Jeep Wrangler roof rack solutions are designed as "no-drill" installations. We utilize the high-strength factory rain gutters or existing mounting holes on the roll cage and body tub. This preserves your Jeep's structural integrity and resale value. Some heavy-duty expedition platforms may require minor drilling for maximum stability.
How do you minimize wind noise at highway speeds?
Wind noise is a major concern for Wrangler owners. Maiker roof racks feature integrated front wind deflector (fairing) designs that channel air over and around the rack. We also utilize low-profile crossbars and slotted side rails to reduce turbulence and drag during highway driving.
